2023 Uf Calendar – Join the UF/IFAS Honey Bee Lab at the 2023 University of Florida Spring Bee College for a day or two of all things bee. Beekeepers new to beekeeping can attend the introductory course, while experienced beekeepers can attend hands-on classes, bee research classes and other advanced beekeeping topics. Additionally, discounts (10% off) are available on 1 and 2 day tickets for active military, retirees, members of the Florida State Beekeepers Association, UF/IFAS Senior Beekeeper, Master Gardener, Master Naturalist Programs, 4-H Members, UF /IFAS County Extension Department, and anyone under 18. There are several hotels near the UF/IFAS Honey Bee Lab, including several near the intersection of I-75 and Archer Road, less than 10 minutes from the lab. We also recommend checking out hotels in Ocala, Alachua and High Springs.

UF/IFAS Honey Judge* training and honey will be offered/conducted at the 2023 Bee College 17-18. march

The workshop will be led by Welsh Honey Chief Judge Michael Young. This event can be your first entry into the UF/IFAS Honey Judge program or as a continuation of your training in the program. All newbies or competitors and judges are strongly encouraged to complete this training and attend the honey show.

If you are new to the program, you are in the right place! You will learn the skills and techniques needed to prepare your material for the honey show, as well as how it is evaluated. The schedule is below. You can use this information and training as a goal in the UF/IFAS Master Beeper Beeper program, and getting an award for your honey and other bee products is a point of pride and achievement that will increase your recognition and value. Friends, peers, colleagues and customers.

Advanced training: Saturday training will focus on beeswax, vegetables, oils and honeydew. Bring questions about topics you need to work on. Let's work together to make sure you get in the show chair and enter the show with a great voice input, as your input needs to be flawless to do so. Bring your portfolio if you want to evaluate something while at the show, as an employee or participant, and earn test scores to become an official or head judge.

Mentor with Bee College guest speakers and socialize with other Bee College participants. The event will include a keynote speech and award ceremony for the honey exhibit. Participants will have a chance to win things like family prizes!

The exhibition will take place on Friday 17 March 2023 and awards will be presented at the ceremony on Friday evening. Permanent clothing will be awarded to winners of the show and first place in the same category. Refunds Refunds will be honored in full if submitted by Sunday, February 5, 2023. No refunds will be issued after February 25, 2023.

Events For Week Of April 30, 2023

Participants canceling/cancelling within 40 days of the start of the program will be billed according to the following schedule (we count the day UF HBREL receives written notification via email as the date of cancellation/withdrawal):

University of Florida Research Laboratories (UF HBREL) will not reimburse airfare or other expenses (including lodging) incurred as a result of cancellation/cancellation. Participants should bear this in mind if purchasing non-refundable tickets and should consider purchasing cancellation insurance to minimize the risk.

The University of Florida Research and Extension Laboratory reserves the right to cancel the program. In such cases, program fees are refunded in accordance with the refund policy above. UF HBREL reserves the right to change, modify or replace any program.
