ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD – With plenty of summer vacation left, families may want to take an early look at the upcoming academic calendar. Here are some important Anne Arundel County Public Schools dates for 2022-2023.

First day of school. Grades 1 through 5, 6 and 9 will return on Monday, August 29. Other classes will begin on Tuesday, August 30. ECI, Preschool and Kindergarten began rush hours on Monday, August 30. 29 through Wednesday, September 7. The opening is posted at this link.

Thanksgiving. The last day of class before the break is Friday, November 18th. Thanksgiving break begins Saturday, November 19th and runs through Sunday, November 27th. Students will not return until Monday, November 28th.

Winter vacation. The last day of school before winter break is Thursday, December 22nd. School will be closed from Friday, December 23 to Sunday, January 1, 2023. Classes will resume on Monday, January 2, 2023.

Vacation. The last day of school before spring break is Friday, March 31, 2023. The holiday begins on Saturday, April 1, 2023 and ends on Monday, April 10, 2023. Students will return on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 .

Last day for other students. All other students are scheduled to graduate on Friday, June 16, 2023.

There is no ECI or pre-K in the afternoon on most days with two hours of early work. The only exceptions are Thursday, June 15, 2023 and Friday, June 16, 2023. There will be no ECI and no half-day pre-K on those dates.

Classes will begin two hours late on Thursday, March 2, 2023 for a parent-teacher conference. No ECI or pre-K this morning. Class starts at 8:30 a.m. at all high schools, 9:15 a.m. in all public schools, and 8-8:30 p.m. next year in all public schools in all elementary schools, according to an early schedule released today.

The schedule further implements a plan the Board of Education adopted earlier this school year for healthier start and return times for students when classes begin in August. "While there are still minor changes to school hours, it is important to provide this information now so that families, staff and the community can begin to make the necessary changes in their lives," said Superintendent George Arlotto. "The change in school hours will create a healthier environment for all of our students, but it's also a big change that families, staff and communities need to adjust to."

Developmental Center, Early Education Center, Mary Moss @ J. Albert Adams Academy, Phoenix Academy and Applied Technology Centers North and South start times can also be found on the page above. School hours for charters and charter schools that provide their own transportation are determined by the school.

Prismatic Services, Inc., contracted by the board to find efficiencies in the student transportation system, is still working with Anne Arundel County Public School officials to finalize bus stop times and locations. The time and location will be announced later this year.

Virtual information sessions led by board members will be held over the next few weeks.
