Ucla 2023-2024 Academic Calendar – Bruins come to UCLA from near and far, and every year our international students travel to UCLA by plane, train, bus and car. UCLA's overseas students (OOS) represent all regions of the country, including the Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest, Northwest, and noncontiguous regions. Moving across the country can be a daunting experience, but there are resources and programs to help you find your community at UCLA.

At FYE, our goal is to reach out to UCLA residents abroad and ensure that students find their home away from home. We want our international students to feel like a Bruin, no matter where your home is and even though UCLA can sometimes feel like a foreign country. The goal of the first-year experience is to equip you with the tools, knowledge, and advice to succeed at UCLA. We host events for international students, connect students with resources, and support the Overseas Student Association (OSSA).

The Out-of-State Student Association (OSSA) is a registered student organization here that provides peer and community relations among OOS Bruins. My name is Sakshi Joglekar and I am the president of the UCLA International Student Association. Coming from the small town of Anderson, South Carolina, UCLA was a big change for me. It didn't take long for UCLA to feel like home, but since only 15% of UCLA's student population was from out of state, I wanted to be as close to my home state and my area as possible. Contact a lot of people. That's why in 2019 I created the International Student Association.

As UCLA's only student organization, OSSA is committed to supporting the community through community events, workshops, newsletters, networking and more. Our goals are to help students adjust to campus life, advocate for students on campus, and connect students with people in their district or state. Having this relationship with OSSA really helped make home feel closer to me, and I hope it does the same for you.

Richard and Gary Leeds Study Abroad Scholarship – For UCLA humanities students enrolled in UCEAP or UCLA study abroad or training programs. Awards average $2,500.
