Uwec Calendar 2023 – The UW-Eau Claire Celebration of Excellence in Research and Creative Activity (CERCA) is designed to provide an opportunity for UW-Eau Claire students to present the results of their research and scientific creative activities. This event highlights research achievements and student contributions to the academic community.

The ORSP team would like to thank all those who have contributed to the CERCA Week activities. This year's event was a huge success! Thank you to all who participated and participated in this celebration of excellence in research and creative pursuits. We are very interested in tracking the number of people participating in 2022. Next year, NCUR 2023 will be held from April 13 to 15, so CERCA will not be held. However, we will return in 2024.

Women's Ice Hockey

The UW-Eau Claire Celebration of Excellence in Research and Creative Activity (CERCA) is designed to give UW-Eau Claire and UW-Eau Claire-Barron County students an opportunity to celebrate their research and scientific creative activities. This event highlights research achievements and student contributions to the academic community. CERCA publishes research results from all departments represented at the university.

The UW-Eau Claire student research program called Student Research Day presented 60 posters in 1992. Since 1992, the event has grown and developed. In 2020, CERCA highlights 236 poster presentations and 19 recorded presentations from 30 disciplines and explores programs on canvas from 957 enrollments. CERCA grows every year.

Any UW-Eau Claire or UW-Eau Claire-Barron County student engaged in collaborative or independent research or scientific creative work is eligible to apply. Chippewa Valley Engineering College students are also welcome. All research subjects are encouraged to apply.

Your presentation should explain how your project meets this definition. This definition is intentionally broad to include all scholarships that take place on campus. For example:

An important part of your CERCA application is your abstract (maximum 200 words). For details on writing your abstract, please read the Abstract Writing Guide.

The abstract summarizes the main features of your project. Successful abstracts, in any category, generally achieve four main goals:

Uwec Academic Calendar 2022

(CWE) is here to support your CERCA project. We encourage you to schedule an appointment online to actually meet the CWE writing assistant in "real time". You can schedule an appointment at .mywconline.com. If you are having trouble scheduling an appointment or if you have additional questions, please call us at 715-836-2644.

** Please note that CWE adopts an interactive (not institutional) approach. Additionally, for technical questions about formatting your poster, please contact the Learning Technology Service (LTS).

In addition to attaching your abstract, you will need to decide which presentation format is best for your research. CERCA has historically supported four presentation formats:

I. CERCA Presentations: One 42″ X 46″ poster will be on display for 2 days with 2 hours of presentation per poster. At least one presenter must be present during the assigned presentation. Poster design workshops are available through LTS during the spring semester. CERCA presentations will be analyzed by the faculty mentoring component of the project. Space for poster presentations is limited and, therefore, on a first-come-first-served basis. We can provide access to desks and electronic outlets.

Note: Your poster will hang on the poster board and therefore you will not need a table to store your poster. If you require access to an electronics store and/or bistro counter, please email cerca@

*Additional note: If your presentation is nominated for the Provost Honors Symposium, submission to CERCA is not required. If they are not accepted at PHS, they will automatically be included in CERCA.

Ii Oral Presentation: Oral presentation is 12 minutes and 3 minutes for discussion. These will be grouped by topic. The presentation room is equipped with a computer and a projector. Creative writing presentations should present the context of the research in addition to other work. If you need another space or have any questions, please email cerca@

Iii Art or other exhibits with descriptions: For art, exhibitions, or anything else that is not in poster form, your exhibition must include text explaining the research context for your creative work. Many shows create posters to accompany their performances. Items must be displayed within 2 days with a specified 2 hour presentation time. At least one presenter must be present at this time.

Please note: We cannot provide laptops, computers or similar technology. You can visit the McIntyre Library Student Equipment Checkout for rental equipment details. If you are presenting a video or film, "Film Screening with Lecture" might suit your needs. We will do our best to accommodate any and all requests. Iv. Shows or Films with Lectures: Usually 25 minutes for original films that include music or dramatic performances or occasionally lectures. (Please note that this is not designed to be a lengthy spoken session.) We will do our best to accommodate any needs, including use of the Woodland Theater and arranging for audio equipment or devices. Please explain your performance or film with a lecture. Include the type of show or film, estimated space required, equipment requirements, estimated duration of shows or films and lectures, etc. Please contact cerca@ to discuss details or unusual accommodation requirements.

Celebrating excellence in research and creative activity processed at BP Logix. To start the application, the main student must login to BPLogix, (1) select a new format (2) select the ORSP section. From there, select (3) "Creating excellence in research and creative activity." A new form should open.

Access My Taskstub to edit, submit, or resubmit forms you previously started or forms that were returned to you. After you submit the form, the form is viewable from the Forms in progress tab and will no longer appear in the My Tasks tab. Please visit the Using Forms and BPLogix pages for a detailed description of the e-form system.

Application You need a faculty mentor to sign your application. For independent research (research not conducted with a faculty mentor), applicants must find a faculty mentor to sign off on their project.

The CERCA form is designed to allow the student's lead author to submit a single application. Student co-authors cannot submit a second application and do not need to endorse the official form. After the student's lead author submits the form, it is sent to the faculty instructor for approval or review before being sent to ORSP. Due to technical limitations, co-authors will not receive approval notices and cannot edit the form themselves. Principal students are responsible for contacting co-authors and entering their names correctly on the form.

If you have a poster or exhibition with posters, UW-Eau Claire would like to publish your poster in a searchable online database called MINDS@UW. To publish the poster, the student lead author and faculty mentor must sign a permit application.

NCUR 2023 will be held from April 13 to 15, so CERCA will not be held. Submission of abstracts and applications for NCUR opens Fall 2022.

If you choose to do a poster presentation, you will need to design and print a large format poster after your application is approved. The recommended poster size is 42″ x 46″. Smaller or larger than 42″ x 46″ is not recommended.

Poster design, preparation and printing assistance is available. Sign up for a poster design workshop by LTS, watch video tutorials or contact training @Poster Printing Policy (Knowledge View) are also available for viewing. For poster templates that can be used, please visit W:Drive/LTS/Poster/Templates if you are on campus. If you are off campus, go to https://files./ and log in with your UW-Eau Claire username. Click on the sidebar and navigate through LTS/Posters/Templates. For information on poster design workshops, please access the list of poster training workshops.

All posters must have a trademark agreement with the UW-Eau Claire Power of AND brand and the University's Graphic Communications Standards Guide. Each poster must include the project title, student, faculty mentor name, and department name. Poster dimensions must not exceed 46×46 inches to fit the poster board; Posters printed by LTS are limited to 42×46 inches. The acknowledgment section should describe the source of your research funding, if applicable.
