Achieving STEM Continuity Through Peer-Collaborative Learning and Leadership Development This project aims to increase undergraduate student retention and success in STEM. This is achieved by incorporating the university's peer learning program to provide students with academic and interpersonal support in introductory engineering courses. The project also plans to support the success of STEM students through the STEM Leadership Academy. The STEM Leadership Academy is expected to develop students' mutual readiness for leadership, interpersonal and workforce. Expected student outcomes include better academic performance, increased self-efficacy, increased persistence, reduced time to graduation, and reduced achievement gaps.
Enhancing the Successful Undergraduate Research Experience (ASSURE) This project aims to fulfill a national interest in examining the relationship between students' participation in research and their academic success and graduation. Specifically, this project will evaluate the impact of new research-oriented curricula and hands-on research experiences for social science students in the chemical sciences. These changes are expected to increase student engagement, retention, graduation and transfer rates to community colleges.
Action-Learning Education Program for Hispanic STEM Students This project aims to train qualified Hispanic STEM students to address the challenges of human resource development and national diversity in the state of California through industry-university partnerships. This will be achieved by increasing student qualifications and demand through meaningful partnerships between industry and universities. In addition, the activities offered in this program help to better understand (from a holistic perspective) the impact of peer counseling on the success of Hispanic students, both academically and professionally.
