Iusb Calendar 2023 – Beginning in Kindergarten, our certified Achievement Academy teachers begin to develop strong relationships with our children because we understand that relationships help students learn, encourage best behavior, and give students a sense of pride and belonging. When our teachers build strong relationships with students, the classroom becomes a safe learning environment where students can take risks and achieve great things.

Academically, we focus on phonics and phonological awareness, which are important pre-reading skills related to the ability to hear, recognize and play the sounds of spoken language, including rhymes and syllables. Children with strong phonological awareness skills are poised to become strong lifelong learners.

Our students learn number sense in our amazing math program. They use manipulative tools to understand quantity. Number sense is the first skill in the development of arithmetic. Just as phonics is key to reading development, numeracy is key to understanding math.

The visual arts play an important role in the development of each of our kindergarten students. Every kindergarten student will have the opportunity to incorporate art with many benefits. These activities will play an important role in the holistic development of our students and improve their cognitive, creative, social and emotional skills.

Each of our students at Success Academy receives a strong foundation in Kindergarten, which provides a stimulating and nurturing environment. A recently renovated space in Parkside Hall, called the Dwyer Healthcare Simulation Center, will transform the building into a flexible, high-tech space for the campus' radiography and nursing programs.

The project will provide a new powered laboratory for radiography students to practice taking actual X-rays, a skill not currently available on campus.
