Unt Academic Calendar 2023 – Denton, Texas – UNT will officially become a member of the American Athletic Conference on July 1, 2023, as Commissioner Mike Eresco announced Wednesday.

"UNT has gained tremendous momentum over the past two years, and this upcoming transition to the US is another great example of our progress," said UNT President Neil Smatrask. "Our university community looks forward to working with our new partners in America and all the great things to come for our athletic department and our university."

As Mean Green prepares for its final year at Conference USA, the department has seen tremendous success, both in competition and in the classroom. UNT posted its best academic semester in the history of the department in spring 2022 with a GPA of 3.206 and a sixth consecutive semester with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Also, UNT's win percentage in the 2021/2022 academic year. He was the best in the modern era of athletic department. With a third straight title in men's basketball and softball, North Texas won three straight Conference USA titles in women's golf for the second time. Nine different events reached the post-season competition.

"It's an exciting time in North Texas and we look forward to the challenge of entering the US next fall," said UNT's vice president and director of athletics.

He said. "Our student-athletes and coaches have made significant achievements during our time at Conference America, but we are optimistic about what lies ahead."

Are Academic Certificates Worth It?

Man Green was previously accepted as a member in the US on October 21, 2021, but with a specific start date. The conference set the admission date after the three exit schools – UCF, Cincinnati and Houston – agreed to terminate their membership in the convention by June 30, 2023.

Founded in 1890, UNT has over 42,000 students and is a Carnegie-accredited Tier One public research university. Athletically speaking, Min. Greene has won 139 all-time conference championships in 16 different sports.

Five other new members, including UAB, UTSA, RICE, Charlotte and FAU, will move to the UNT at the same time. Six universities will join East Carolina, Memphis, Navy (football only), South Florida, SMU, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa and Wichita State (basketball and Olympic sports only) – bringing US membership to 15 schools by 2023-24. The academic year 14-team league competes in American football and men's and women's basketball, among other sports.

It will be present in four of the top 10 US, 7 of the top 25 and 12 of the top 51 Nielsen media markets. The league will include four teams in the state of Texas, two each in Florida and North Carolina, and one each in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Louisiana, Tennessee, Alabama, Oklahoma and Kansas.

UNT has competed as a member of Conference USA since 2013. North Texas has been a member of the Sun Belt Convention since 2001. Academic calendar autumn 2022. 1st working day (Monday) 09/08/2014.
