Nisd Calendar 2023-2024 – Learning never ends, regardless of age, and at Northside ISD, our learning opportunities are just as diverse. We have expanded our summer school offerings to reach more students than ever before in our summer institutes. So whether you want to catch up on your studies, improve your skills, learn something new or try to get ahead, summer is your time to refresh, refresh, reconnecting!

A variety of beginner and intermediate courses (including some virtual) are available during the summer months and will be posted on this page in the spring. So let's get to know each other!

Northside ISD is proud to offer summer programs for all students in PreK through 5th grade to revitalize, engage and enrich students' meaningful experiences to extend the regular school year.

When Is Teacher Appreciation Week 2023?

Transportation is provided for students who live more than two miles from their previous campus, and meals are provided for students from campuses to the designated campus location.

A 120-hour Senior Summer School Program for English Language Teachers in Pre-K and Kindergarten is available to students enrolled in a bilingual or ESL program. English language learners receive detailed instruction to prepare them for the next grade.

Transportation: Transportation is provided for students who live more than two miles from their campus and is provided for students from feeder campuses to campus.

The First Summer School Program is for new immigrant students in grades one through five who have not completed a formal education and have been in the United States for one or two years.

Refugee students from grades 1 to 5 were placed in a new classroom at North Colonies, Mead, or Glenox elementary schools.

Summer high school programs are designed for students to re-engage and reconnect through curriculum and experiences. Offerings are designed to reinforce content and skills, accelerate coursework, or encourage students to engage in enrichment activities through visual arts, AVID, sports, activities, and technology opportunities. Most programs are for student groups.

The Summer MS Newcomer Academy Literacy Program is specifically designed to support novice/fluent students and increase academic achievement in literacy, specifically STAAR writing and reading. The program also improves ELs' speaking and writing skills to influence TELPAS Writing scores.

Hector Garcia Middle School

Step into Advanced Math is a summer course for high school students who have consistently passed 6th grade math and want to enter accelerated algebra next school year. The instruction and assessment of this program focuses on the 7th grade TEKS to meet the accelerated math requirements.

Pathway to Advanced MS Algebra I is a summer course for high school students who have successfully completed a 7th grade math course and wish to enroll in Advanced MS Algebra I in the upcoming school year. The instruction and assessment of this program focuses on the 8th grade TEKS to meet the MS Advanced Algebra 1 qualification.

Nisd Employee Used Position To Run For Profit Diving Team

The main purpose of communication apps (Comm Apps) is to communicate in a professional and social context. In this class, students develop different skills that can be used in different settings. Examples include analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of one's own communication and that of others, and problem solving and conflict management.

Students earn 0.5 high school credit for Comm Apps, which completes a speech credit that is a bachelor's degree. The primary benefits of early participation and success in high school studies are students' awareness of achievement and better understanding of high school requirements such as acceptance, GPA , and the benchmarks. Additionally, by improving high school transitions, students will be better equipped with the skills needed to succeed in high school and beyond. Finally, entering high school with this credit will contribute to the student's high school schedule in order to increase the student's ability to enter accreditations and the opportunity to enroll in honors courses.

High school summer programs are designed to help students who can re-enter and reconnect with different programs, including those who want to accelerate debt collection and repayment or for lost debts.

The High School Credit Recovery Program is an additional online program for students who have the opportunity to receive credits that previously failed (due to lack of final grades or failure to meet attendance parameters) .

Buses are provided for students enrolled in summer programs. Bus routes run from the primary feeder school to the secondary school. Morning routes take students to high school. Students who are released at the end of the morning session will travel by bus from the high school to the primary school. Students who wish to stay for the morning and evening sessions will board the bus when the evening session is offered and will be left with the main caterer. (Students who make it to the evening session must be taken to the high school and bused to the elementary school at the end of the evening session.)

Dallas® Newcomer + Relocation Guide

The High School Credit Acceleration Program is a supplemental online program for students who have the opportunity to accelerate their learning disabilities as they mature.

Summer school courses for English language learners are taught by certified ESL teachers. Classes develop basic English skills, literacy and social and leadership skills.

Teachers provide the language support necessary for English learners to succeed in courses required for graduate, college and career. This summer learning period is important for older, lower-income students who are late for the 2020-2021 school year.

Multiple Nisd Student Councils Receive Gold Stamp Of Excellence

In addition, tutors are provided at campuses with many enrolled ELs and have access to accelerated learning and/or credit to maintain a low student/teacher ratio. Summer school fees are waived for students enrolled in all required courses. High school counselors work with ESL and LPAC teachers to make summer referrals.

Students in Northside ISD high schools are designated as limited English speakers according to the Texas Education Code.

The High School Travel EOC Course is an additional program for at-risk students based on state standards who have not yet passed the EOC test. The course is designed to reinforce the skills and knowledge of the five (5) EOC test courses. Eighth grade students who do not pass the Algebra I EOC are eligible to enroll in the AI ​​Middle School program the following school year. Accelerated curriculum is based on individual student performance on the EOC test, divided by performance standards. In addition, each course uses pre-module tests to provide the necessary guidance for greater success.

Students who meet the state's at-risk criteria have not taken one or more EOC tests for the course taken.

Dates: Monday-Thursday, June 6 – June 16 Session: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm Session: 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Exam week: June 21-24

Booming Enrollment Propels Nisd's Expected 5 Year Increase To Double

The purpose of Extended School Years (ESY) services is to address the severe and significant decline in children with disabilities in one or more critical skills that cannot be rehabilitated in the period not exceeding eight weeks.

Year-round educational services are individualized learning programs provided to students with disabilities after the school year. ESY must be reviewed annually for each student with disabilities and services as determined by the Admissions, Review, and Delivery (ARD) committee on an individual basis.

The goal of this year's GT Primary Camp Invention Explore is to empower students to come up with great ideas when allowed.
