Uh Manoa Academic Calendar 2023 – Students of the Hawaiian System of Innovative Student Entrepreneurs (RISE) housing are invited to apply for a student housing/mixed-use innovation center under construction at the UHMānoa campus.

The first students will enter RISE starting in the fall of 2023. Residents will not only enjoy a new residential community with like-minded students, but also the wide range of entrepreneurship programs offered by the Pacific Asia Center for Entrepreneurship (PACE) at Schedler Business School. Which will center around the classroom, factory space, meeting room and co-working space on the ground floor of the new facility.

Leases for Fall 2023 will begin in Fall 2022. University officials anticipate significant demand for 374 beds at the $70 million Direct Learning and Work facility at the former AthertonYMCA site at the corner of University Avenue and Metcalfe Street.

"RISEUH will provide unique opportunities for students to grow as innovators and entrepreneurs who will help diversify and strengthen our economy," said UH President David Lesnar. "It will also provide a meaningful increase in our student housing roster which will help relieve the pressure on waiting lists created by the enrollment growth at UHMānoa, which is setting another record for admissions to new classes. RISE is fully funded through private, non-taxpayer funding. Companies UH, UHFoundation and Hunt have entered into a public-private partnership (P3) to design, build and finance the facility. Moss is a general contractor. B.HOMS Student Living will manage RISE, the first student housing complex externally managed by the university.

RISE is the first of its kind, a six-story, $70 million facility that combines a center for innovation and entrepreneurship with student housing. It will be a collaborative learning environment where students from all disciplines can explore their interests, solve complex problems, create prototypes, test their ideas, and access resources.
